What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your choices and keep it secure. Some similar tools, such as browser storage, work in the same way and we include them in this policy.
Cookies we use
We use only essential cookies. These are needed to run the shop, and they do not need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). They include:
- Age confirmation (eliteterpenez_age): remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or over, so we do not ask you again on every page. It is kept for a set number of days, 30 days unless we change it. The same choice may also be kept in your browser storage.
- Basket and checkout (wp_woocommerce_session_ followed by a code, woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart): keep the items in your basket and carry your order through checkout. The session cookie lasts for up to 2 days. The other two end when you close your browser.
- Account and login (wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_sec_, wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-): set only when you log in to your account. They keep you signed in, check that your browser accepts cookies and remember your account display settings. Login cookies end when you close your browser, or after about 14 days if you choose to be remembered.
- Website speed (_lscache_vary): set by our caching system so that the right version of a page is served to you. It lasts for up to 2 days.
- Security (wfwaf-authcookie-, wordfence_verifiedHuman): set by our website security plugin. They are used only for logged-in users and, where needed, to check that a visitor is a person and not a bot.
- Language (wp-wpml_current_language): set by our multilingual plugin to remember the language of the site you are viewing. It lasts for about a day.
- Regional site choice (et_region_stay): set only if you choose to stay on this site when we offer you a different regional site. It lasts for up to 180 days.
Analytics and marketing
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to count visits and see which pages and products people look at. If you click Accept analytics in the cookie banner, it sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which last up to two years, and it sends page views, device and browser details and, for orders, the order number and total to Google. If you click Reject, nothing from Google is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. We switch off Google signals and ad personalisation, and we do not use advertising cookies or marketing pixels.
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is remembered in a cookie called et_consent for six months. If you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics cookies we can reach on this site.
We also load Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused tool that measures page views and site performance. Cloudflare describes it as working without cookies or other browser storage on your device, so we do not ask for consent for it. We do not use Google Tag Manager.
Third-party cookies
When you pay by card, you may be sent to a page run by our payment provider, Viva.com, and when you pay by cryptocurrency you use our crypto payment service. These providers, and Cloudflare, can set their own cookies or collect data under their own policies, and we do not control them. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on this website.
How to control cookies
You can delete cookies or block them in your browser settings. Your browser’s help pages explain how, and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has guidance on cookies at ico.org.uk. If you block essential cookies, parts of the shop may stop working, for example your basket, checkout and login. If you clear the age confirmation cookie, you will be asked to confirm your age again.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
